The Bring the Mission Home campaign is not about a building, but about what can be accomplished within those walls to make our community a place. where no child or family has to go hungry.
The new location allows HFS to address the following needs:
*A private and more confidential experience for the client - asking for help is never easy and it was even harder clients
when clients had to enter and wait in the store
*The implementation of a grocery-style food shelf for clients - this will ensure families take home food that will work in their
meal plans and that they will actually eat and enjoy
*A safer work environment for the volunteers who
accept, weigh, sort and warehouse the donations.
*An adequate retail and warehouse space for the Clothes
Closet & More. The new store has better lighting and
parking. The increased warehouse space will allow HFS to
store more seasonal items until they can be displayed and
provide more options for clients who need emergency
clothing.
*A centralized donation center where donors can more
conveniently bring their donations of food, money or
clothing/household items.
The overall goal of the campaign is to provide HFS with a permanent home and additional resources to better meet the needs of our communities. A successful campaign will raise $1 million to purchase and renovate a permanent home for Hastings Family Service. This will in turn reduce occupancy costs by over $60,000/year so those dollars can go directly for food or other services.
