What to expect during the food shelf appointment?
1. HFS staff will partner with you confidentially, and treat you with respect and dignity.
You will meet with an emergency service worker who will listen to you to see how HFS can best help you with your situation.
2. In most cases, you will be able to choose 5-7 day supply of food from a ‘grocery list’ which includes meat, fresh dairy and produce, and personal care items. A volunteer will pack the items you requested.
3. You will receive a dairy and produce voucher to receive additional fresh items from the grocery store.
4. Appointments take approximately 45 minutes.
5. Children are more than welcome to come to an appointment.
6. In an effort to respect everyone's time, if you find yourself running late, we may not be able to serve you that day and may need to reschedule. If you are aware that you cannot make your scheduled appointment, please give us a call to open the time up for another family.
NOTE: Due to an increased demand, we may not be able to accommodate same day appointments for the food shelf. Please try to schedule appointments 2-3 days in advance so we can best meet your needs.
