Volunteer

Last year over 400 volunteers contributed 28,763 hours of service to Hastings Family Service. We rely on volunteers to deliver help and hope through a variety of positions throughout the agency.

Ongoing Volunteers

The majority of our volunteers work on a regular basis.  They commit to a weekly four hour shift in one program area.  We also have volunteers who work as a substitute (filling in when our regular volunteers are unable to make their shift), or on an on call basis through our Just Friends and Meals and Wheels programs.  Most of our ongoing opportunities require volunteers to be at least 18 years of age or older.  We ask for a minimum of a four month commitment for all of our ongoing volunteer opportunities.

Short Term & Youth Volunteers

Hastings Family Service often needs short term volunteers to help with special events like School Supplies, Project Share, clothes sorting, food drives, and more!

Short Term & Youth Volunteer Opportunities

  • Help sort donations of food, clothing & household items.  Schedule a shift here.  This opportunity is appropriate for volunteers age 12 and older.  Volunteers age 15 or younger must sign up with an adult.

Group Volunteers

Due to space restrictions we are often unable to accept requests for group volunteer opportunities.  However, depending on the size and age level of your group we can often suggest ideas for service the can be done off site.  Please contact us  for more information.
